In 1981-82 the Drama Department of the University of Wisconsin-Madison invited the Kita school Noh actor Matsui Akira to mount a student production of Funa Benkei. Mr. Matsui brought the appropriate costumes, masks, and props with him, as well as a recording of the music. The production was as authentic as possible.
